I had to photograph the floor (though I was barely awake!) because it reminded me of a painting I love that's on the cover of a book I read a couple years ago. I love the light and shadows of the painting, but forget the name of the artist. I only remember that he's a 19th century German, and that the painting is in a museum in Berlin. Google is usually my friend, but not this time. Frustrating.
