I have lost another Rock in my life.

(This blog entry is going to be a bit disjointed from one paragraph to another.  But it's about grief, and it's my grief, so for once I don't have to care about you and rewriting and editing to make sure it's all seamless for you. Oh, and if you comment, please honor me with using the word “died” and not “passed

I don't think of death as 'passing away'. I think of it as 'passing on' instead.

It's sad when someone you love passes on but from where I sit, it's because we are left behind, not because they have gone on.

However, the sadness is real and I am sorry that you have to go through this. Please know, you are not alone.

The terrible thing about death for us here is the separation. It's like being abandoned for a while. With death, I never think of mourning the person so much as myself because I don't have them anymore. It's the selfish human nature.

But I am glad for him that he won't have to suffer here anymore, and I am sad for you that you have to go through this. It gives you one more thing to look forward to though.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you how to grieve, but mourn for yourself now and rejoice for him later and thank God for the time that Charlie was yours. (And when you see him again, you can finally perfect that harmony:)

I'll be praying for you as often as I think of you.
