well, what i HOPE it does (and it seems to, from the trailer) is branch off into its own little thing from the original version. a good remake, especially when it is a cross cultural/medium remake, does this i think.
i really am just going to be unabashedly biased and say i'll probably love it no matter what because i loved the inspired casting choices of jesse bradford (oh how i heart you since yellowdog/hackers/bring it on days) and elisha cuthbert (one of the only girls i'd switch teams for [and there aren't many lol]).
yeah, i'm hoping it will branch off into its own little thing too. but because it's a remake, i really don't like the whole "she's psychotic" thing... labeling women as psychotic bugs me a lot. and again, it's a remake... of an Asian film. so it makes me question whether they're labeling Asian (or more specifically, Korean) women as psychotic when the original My Sassy Girl is more... intentionally violent (but she doesn't give you the impression that she's psychotic).
... oh jeez. i LOVED the original. so i'm not sure about this one...
i actually don't mind remakes. the only part that makes me angry is that there is usually NO acknowledgement of the original movie. i mean, COME ON! everyone here is so hyped up about being the first, and originality! nothing is original. and that is A-OK. i just want someone to have the balls to admit it. ARGH.
