Famitsu gave Vagrant Story a 10 so they aren't that crazy =Dseigi_no_kazeJune 26 2008, 00:39:57 UTC
My first and last experience with MGS was Snake getting shot repeatedly by Russians in the first act/chapter of the PSX game. I decided that Snake deserved better than to be controlled by me and gave up on the series. I always thought it was cool that you were so good at it. =)
I still followed all the hype though, and wondered if I should give it a go again now that I'm older and better at games. I'm interested in the story, and followed several gaming blogs and forums to spoil myself. I think I'd like the wtf moments but I feel like the series has passed me by. Kind of like going back to console gaming after 2+ years of WoW and buying all those SMT games. People played them years ago and I have no one to talk about them with now.
I think I'll experience MGS through all you true fans vicariously. I did want to make a joke about Snake listening to Johnny Cash on his iPod though.
I'm glad you understood that I meant 40 lolseigi_no_kazeJune 26 2008, 22:38:12 UTC
I only realized after you posted that I used the wrong scoring system =(
I kind of remember watching you in MGS2(?) fighting like five Metal Gear Rays and thinking OMG WANT! I saw the boss designs for MGS4 and I loved them too. I'll look for the GC remake when I get paid. I fully expect to suck at it though.

Haha, I knew what you meant XD 10, 40, it's all the same.
It is MGS2 where you take on the Metal Gear RAYs - all the insane fights like that in the Metal Gear series just make you feel so badass, like Snake vs. the Hind-D chopper, or Raiden vs. the Harrier Jet (but not so much that one as the killing of like 15 giant robots with a rocket launcher XD)
When I first started playing MGS2, I did so on the easy setting until I got used to the controls. There's no shame in playing through the first time on the lowest difficulty setting until you get comfortable sneaking about pwning fools. lol
I've watched a good portion of this game being played and its really outstanding in every aspect.
But I tried to not pay attention to much of the story (as I haven't played any MGS) and tried focusing on solely cracking jokes about how old Snake was.
It really is fun to watch, toor3nz0kuk3nJune 27 2008, 12:45:39 UTC
"Outstanding" is a good word to describe it - just not "perfect" which was my beef with the reviewers. "Fun" is another good word to use because... it really is tons of fun. My husband even looked at me shyly and said, "Can I play this game one day?" I immedately stopped my game and handed him the controller, just to see what he was made of. He decided to forget the whole "Tactical Espionage" part and focus on the "Action" by walking up to hostiles and going "HAY GAIZ WATZ GOIN ON IN DIS WAR" and then just shooting as many people as he could manage, friendly or not.
He racked up over 500 kills and over 50 alerts that game.
I just sat there going "UR DOIN IT RONG" and shook my head in shame, but laughed my ass off nonetheless. lol
So apparently there's a set of MGS, 2, and 3 in one package for the PS2? I wonder if it's the GC remake of the first one or the original with all the issues...

Needless to say, everyone was having fun.
