Just a quickie post before I head off to a short, adult astronomy camp for most of the weekend....
I made this cake for our yearly church auction for the Sunday School. I was going to make two, but I ran out of time.
It's an eastern collared lizard, which are native around here. The males in certain regions can be brilliant blue colors. The cake itself is chocolate because I couldn't find red velvet.
"Unwelcome Light"
I had a drawing attack the other night (haven't had one of those in a while!), and the subject matter of the attack was a drider. I've never drawn driders before, and I don't think I've ever seriously sat down and drawn a spider either. So I looked up some pictures of black widows and started sketching. I thought I'd just toss a quick and dirty sketch down on paper and move on. Well, I liked how it was turning out, so I gave it a crappy background to finish it off. In all, it took about 45 minutes or something like that. I kinda like it.
I'm now working on a better, more detailed, armor-clad drider soldier. I like how it's turning out so far! I'd scan the sketch in and post it, but I'm tired and should get to bed soon if I don't want to be entirely wasted tomorrow.
I got really sick Monday, but I was mostly better by Tuesday. Now, it's just a really bad cold. No complaints here, though; I'll take the cold over whatever I had Monday night any day! The downsides are my ears/sinuses being unable to pressurize properly (gonna be fun going up the mountain tomorrow), a lack of appetite, and almost constant fatigue.
