You know, Santa Claus, and ho-ho-ho, and mistletoe... and presents to pretty girls...

I love Christmas. People are happier this time of year. My sister and I are even getting along, which is amazing. We're both trying really hard this year, mostly for my mother because she's just thrown herself into Christmas. It's a nice change.

----------------------------------------
Although I hate seeing the moments when Mum gets quiet and starts fiddling with her ring. Sometimes I wish she'd just let herself be sad. Not the fake I'm-supposed-to-be-this-way sad like at the funeral, but just general grief. She just keeps plowing ahead, and I think it's going to kill her. My poor mother.

My poor sister, too. My mother said she's been acting out, saying stupid or mean things (more than she usually does, anyway). They're a mess. I'm so glad I'm home right now. And I'm so very very thankful for James.

Although I really miss my dad when it comes to the decorations, pathetic as that sounds. He could always make the tree stay upright and get the lights to hang all night instead of the droopy mess my sister and I managed.
----------------------------------------

What's scary is that I'm even enjoying the shopping part. Even the crowds and the noise and the stress of a tree that keeps falling over can't stop this happy feeling. I haven't felt really good in months.

And now for the presents!

Riley: a muggle magic eight ball with note: So when that thinking gets to hurting someone else can give you answers. And it could make a great weapon when lobbed at someone's head.

Monty: chocolate roses and a thin spiked collar with note: Give one to Dolohov and keep one for yourself. It's up to you who gets what. ;)

James: a broom care kit with note: Really more for your birthday. I know it's a lame gift, I'm sorry. I promise I'll make it up to you. You're really hard to shop for, you know that? You'd better give me a large hint for your actual Christmas present. ~Love, L.

Sirius: A nice black flea collar with a tag that says "Bad Dog" and note: Maybe next time you'll be more likely to wear it, haha.

Remus: An assortment of pocket reference books on everything from linguistics to Russian history and a small box of chocolates with note: For your two addictions. Merry Christmas, fellow nerd.

Peter: A framed picture of the Marauders laughing with note: I took this a few weeks ago. You boys looked so happy, especially you. Merry Christmas.

Dorcas: A yardstick with BEST TEACHER EVER written on it and note: For pointing to the board or smacking stupid students. Or for chasing Kingsley around. Whichever.

Kingsley: A bottle of wine and an organizer with note: Just a few things to help you relax once in a while.

((Anyone else who wants something from her got a bag of candy. She has a lot of friends.))

I hope everyone else is having fun, too.
One week until Christmas Day!
