The picture really doesn't do them justice. One can tell the skin is thick just from looking at the outside, and they look and smell like a delicious cross between guerro chiles and fall apples. If I were more comfortable with the heat, I would stuff them with garlic and goat cheese and bake them.
they look almost like Queen Anne cherries in that picture. You should get a couple and play around with them. Habaneros are much hotter, but one of the chefs at the catering place I worked at made some sort of fabulous habanero saffron vanilla cream sauce or something.
They are actually almost the size of apples, and the ones at the local store are knobbier then those.
Dairy, saffron and hot peppers are a great trio. I've never really gone hotter then thai chiles in my own cooking, but if I were to try, I think I would try these.
