Falkner uses birds, so you want electric or rock-type Pokemon. You can catch rocks in Dark Cave, and electric sheep on route 32.

I recommend the sheep.

I am aware of the type weaknesses involved in most situations.

How reliable are the electric sheep you recommend against other gym leaders?

Then you're in a good position.

I can only help you through the first five, but it kinda depends on how well you train it. As far as type weaknesses go, Falkner's gym is the only one weak to electricity.

I see. Then it would not prove to be an effective addition to a long-lasting team.

How effective are the rock-type you speak of against the following leaders?

Oh, howdy! Ya finally made it to Violet, huh?

--You're gonna try takin' on the gym leader too?

*shifting to face Gemini, lowering the gear as she does* Yes. I arrived in Violet exactly 7 days ago.

Affirmative. I have seen no other mission objective to aim for during my stay thus far.

Everyone else is shootin' for the gym badges, so I guess I'm gonna do the same thing. It oughta be fun on a bun!

Indeed, it appears to be the objective for the majority of those brought here. *What is with this girl and her weird phrases...*

They probably wanna make us rely on the pokey-mon just like everybody else here. If we had all our powers, I could blast through this place before lunch.

And maybe they changes us so people don't think we're monsters too. Pretty stupid if ya ask me. I look way cooler as a hedgehog. This human thing's cramping my style.

I do not comprehend. In what manner would you "blast through" if you were in possession of your powers?

A. . . hedgehog? I was not aware there was hedgehogs capable of human speech.

By running. With my speed, I bet I could run laps around Johto in a Sonic second!

[Heh, heh.]

That's 'cause you've never been to Mobius. All hedgehogs can talk there, and there aren't a lot of humans.

Aside from the decreased travel time, in what way would being capable of reaching the speed of sound aid your journey?

. . . From that brief description, there is a high probability it does not exist in my original dimension.

A rock-type or an electric-type would be effective against Falkner's birds, but any well-trained pokemon can do the job.

I see. I have been informed as such already, and am currently considering a "Geodude" as an addition.

Do you have any alternative recommendations that would be suitable for this position?

I'd suggest an Onix, if you can get one--that's what I had. [ Technically still 'has', but he's not an Onix anymore. ] It could be out of your way, though.

An Onix... Judging by your follow up, they must not be located near Violet City.

[Hero overhears this and pipes up from his corner of the Center, a Bagon on his lap.]

Electric, rock, and ice-types... or so I've heard.

*Turning to face you!*

. . . I had not yet been informed of ice-types being an option. Are you aware of any that are nearby?

[Hero shakes his head.] Nope. Some people probably started with ice-types. If you really need one, you could always ask around for an egg.

It is not a necessity. If there are none readily available, I shall make do with what is.
