I actually just listened to the album for the first time in years a few weeks ago. I enjoyed this song as well. Darren's lyrics and vocals were really cool, and I liked playing it. :)

I liked some of my lyrics on that song, but hated the tone of the vocals - i sound off.

As for the phrasing - i think it helps to have a drumming backround. All my vocals were based on how I thought a drum cadence would work in that spot. I would just write the lyrics around a cadence.
