Re: the mechanics thing, here's a funny thing that happened the other day, and I know you'll appreciate it. You know that job aptitude meme that was floating around the flist last week? Well, I did it, and it came up with ten different kinds of mechanic - race car mechanic, farm equipment mechanic, industrial mechanic - really! It was nuts. And I thought, where on earth would it get the idea that I'm at all mechanically apt?
So that day, I go out to lunch, and as I'm walking into the office, one of my coworkers ignores the man I'm walking with, grabs me and says "I need to see you outside." I thought she wanted to talk to me or something, but she says "I need you to show me how to check the fluids in my car." So I show her everything from how to open the hood to how to check all the fluids, check the battery connections, and look for loose hoses and belts. She describes the problem she's having and I tell her what's wrong and to take ( ... )
