Friday
The plan was to be up at 4, and ready at half past so that Paul and I could drive up to Cardiff Airport for our 7am flight...sadly I was still in bed when Paul knocked on my window at 4.35...that'll teach me not to charge my phone the night before an important day. Fortunately the previous weeks of teaching practice have instilled in me the skill to be ready within about 3 minutes of waking up. I don't advice this for everyone, only the truly unorganised can accomplish this.
We arrived in Glasgow and took a cab over to Torrance, where Nanna and Poppa were waiting. Sadly, we weren't much good company, what with the sleepiness.
Sleepy much?
After a few hours of catch up sleep, a quick tour of the village (which more or less resembles a town now), we all settled in for the evening. That's the good thing about Torrance, you can't help but sleep loads and feel relaxed. Luff it :-)
Saturday
Myself, Paul and Nanna and Poppa took a trip over to Campsie Glen, just about one of the prettiest places in the world.
Mum pointed out the the photo below looks like our best impression of the scene in Trainspotting where Tommy tries to get the others to go hiking in the countryside, and their reaction is thus...
But, honest! We wanted to be there! I tell ye, it's gorgeous up there.
In front of the waterfall...
On top of the waterfall...
Under the waterfall!
Feet! Check out those toes...enormous!
If you fancy seeing a couple of videos of the waterfalls,
follow the linky goodness to Myspace videos one...
and two. We meandered down the hill to the Clachan of Campsie and had a look at a veh veh old graveyard, with one grave dating back to 1742. He be old...
I really loved this tree we found, because it looks as if it's undulating from the ground...pretty nifty...
Sunday
Very lazy day. Pretty much consisted of reading the papers, eating a big ole concoction of mac'n'cheese, chips, veg and yorkshire pudds (I know, but if it's not a big pile of food, it's not my dinner) and a trip to the pub where Paul and I discussed the finer points of botox, facelifts and Strictly Dance Fever. We also had a wander around the village as a whole...we were aiming for a forest but somehow managed to bypass it completely :-S But still, it gave us a chance to talk about our aspirations in life...mine being a big house and a big dog...Paul's being a big house and a cleaner :-D
Monday
Glasgow! The day in pictures.
The 'Shorts Of Wow' have been sighted up north!
We descended upon Pizza Hut with the intention of licking that counter clean. All you can eat, you say? We'll see about that!
Look who we found! AVAAAA!
Omar! Ava's fella.
*snicker* Captions on a postcard please.
For more video fun, where Ava rocks the Japanese and enquires as to the location and existence of her keys...
have a clicky. Also! I have discovered the wonder that is Urban Outfitters. Wow! I want to kit out my entire house with the stuff they have in there! Namely the 'What Would Jesus Do?' toy. It's basically a Magic 8 Ball, but in the form of a big pink Jesus. When you turn him upside down, the messages go along the lines of 'I'll ask my dad', and 'Ye of little faith'.
All in all, twas a good trip, thoroughly deserved chill out. If not for the discovery of Amos Lee (look him up, love him) but then for the comedy answers Paul and I managed to come up with for University Challenge.
"What is Apyc-in-all-is?"
"The Jamaican term for picking flowers!"
Good night and good luck!
