A lot, thanks! It turns out that the gift thing was not so bad after all, we managed to get quite a lot for each other on a very tight budget so that was fine and the rest of the day was just great. Really enjoyable, a slight row at one stage but otherwise wonderful.

As for part I, unfortunatel, it probably won't appear today. Ali, as far as I can tell, takes Christmas Day off the internet, and I haven't quite finished my pieces yet. It will, however, be up before New Year - either as an special issue, or (perhaps, once I have consulted further with you and Ali) as the opening posts of this blog thing we might attach to the site, perhaps?

For those curious the matter has since been resolved. SES has undergone a fairly radical reform {or perhaps revolution} and the post is up there.
