I.

This will be my last chance to post as a seventeen year old.

I must admit that that's a strange thought, it feels like a lot longer than a year {even a Leap Year} since I turned this age and for it to be finally at an end is rather disconcerting. Not entirely unwelcome, of course, there are things which are pleasing about it, but still ( Read more... )

Most tribal cultures have adultdood ceremonies for both boys and girls (different ceremonies for each of course). It is strange that most "modern" cultures don't.

Obviousely, it is not a need in the way food or water is a need. Nobody is going to die if they don't get an adulthood ceremony. However, I think that having a ceremony the separates adulthood from childhood serves a valid socialogical and psychological purpose. It is unfortunate that most "modern" cultures see these types of ceremonies as unimportant.

Well it involves eating loads of chocolate, drinking a lot of cider and possibly chewing a bit of salvia {just for teh visions} then sure, but as far as I can tell such things generally involve something unpleasant {like having to learn Hebrew} so on those grounds I am wary.

I consider such ceremonies less important than pleasure. Make them pleasurable and I'm all for. &.&

Sorry I couldn't be there. If it makes you any happier, I feel even more sick now. Horrible.

I had a great day and a really fantastic party. Would have been better if you and Lysi had been there, of course, but I assure you that you didn't ruin anything. :)

I hope that you feel better soon.
