I repeatedly get free stuff!

Yup. They say that the best things in life are free. I'm inclined to agree. Sometimes, the best stuff is the best because it is free.

This past Friday was Valentine's Day. Since I work at a middle school, and since there was a dance on that day, the combination of an irregular schedule, increased sugar intake, pubescent drama, and everything else this entails made the kids a little unruly. But, I cracked the whip and managed them just fine. As a nice added bonus, some of them saw fit to give me free stuff.

Check it out:

So, as many of you know, I am a subscriber of the Dollar Shave Club. With my last shipment, they included some free samples of their One-Wipe Charlies. These, in case you missed my previous post on the subject, are butt wipes designed for men.

They included two wipes and an advertisement with directions on the back.

directions...?!

Why the hell did they include directions?! This isn't rocket science, you know...

Anyway, just a reminder that if you sign up for DSC using my referral link, I get a six dollar credit. That's two months of free shaves for me!

- - = = [3] Free "Skullgirls: Encore" = = - -

So, while playing with my PS3, I got this message...

Because of Reverge Labs' legal disputes with their former distributor Konami, software updates, bug fixes, and DLC could not be supported any longer on XBox Live Arcade or Playstation Network. But, once Reverge Labs paired up with a different distributor, they couldn't distribute anything with the title "Skullgirls." So, "Skullgirls Encore" was born. It's basically "Skullgirls" with bug fixes and a free DLC character: Squigley.

I got the "Encore" version for free because I had purchased the original "Skullgirls" some time ago. Early 2013, I think.

Don't know what the hubub is about? Have a look-see at the trailer:

This arrived in the mail on Saturday:

What is the deal with this? Settle in, children, and I will tell you a tale...

Back in December, I ordered Early American Chrononauts at Dragon's Lair. What is Early American Chrononauts? It's just like Chrononauts, but set primarily during the 19th Century instead of the 20th Century. If that last statement doesn't really answer the question, let me elaborate by saying that it's a card game wherein each player takes on the persona of a time traveler who can alter time and collect artifacts. If the player can return to his home timeline or collect the artifacts for his mission, he or she wins the game. The best part? The two games can be combined to form the super-game ÜberChrononauts.

...that is, if both games are actually complete.

My EAC was missing several cards, including an entire column of cards from the timeline. I found this out on New Year's Eve while gaming with Kevin, Enjoli, and James. We had just played a game of regular Chrononauts, and I tore off the shrink-wrap from EAC in preparation for a game of ÜberChrononauts, only to discover the missing cards as we tried to set up the game. Boo.

But, I finally got around to emailing Looney Labs at the end of January, and they were good enough to send me some replacement cards. Wasn't that nice of them? In addition, they also included a pack of bonus cards, which apparently retail for $2. It includes the Live Wooly Mammoth bonus card (counts as a "Live Dinosaur" for Chrononauts and a "Wooly Mammoth Steak" in EAC), a bonus card for Fluxx: The Board Game (which I also own), a Goal card for Monster Fluxx (which I do not own), and a card for Choose One! (which I may purchase at some point in the future.)

You know, I need to get that The Gore Years expansion for the game. It would make my ÜberChrononauts game just that much more über. (So... überer?)
