I have met with the resort staff, and would like to make it clear that none of them speak passable English. As such, speaking either louder or slower to them will not make you understood. I understand your position, sir, but do please refrain from addressing the group as if every last one of us is a complete cultural moron. I realize there are members of our entourage that are immature at best, but some of us did our homework before this trip if only in preparation for the worst, and I imagine at least a handful of the company is acquainted with the antiquated notion of tipping.

Singling individuals out would be unprofessional. Should you wish to distinguish yourself in terms of cultural sensitivity, I would suggest you do so demonstratively, rather than appeal to my certification.

I'm not sure I follow your reasoning on that. I don't require your certification, as you say; I'm only appealing to you not to make sweeping judgments. Just as I hope the employees on this trip don't make generalizations about cultures different from their own, I hope you can see the intelligence behind that request, at least.

Your attempts at trying to get the other westerners Vance employees to show a modicum of cultural sensitivity are admirable, if somewhat ...amusing.
