Oh, very nice. :) TW - and Jack in particular - must look pretty bloody nasty to those who have only a passing acquaintance. Better to pretend you don't remember than to have them make sure that you don't....
I figure TW and the police have a very mixed relationship. This particular case, though, would have been very very hard to explain away if the police had showed up just 30 seconds earlier... (Sigh, I just went and rewatched. My memory was faulty - I thought the police had arrived while he was still shooting.)
And if Jack didn't know they were watching, he can't retcon them, can he
Actually, I only played with the timing a little. The police arrived just after he fired the last shot, and you see them running down the pier. I always wondered how he explained Suzie's body. Retcon seems unlikely... "Oh, just ignore that bullet ridden body over there. Have some coffee?"
"Oh, just ignore that bullet ridden body over there. Have some coffee?"
LOL. That kind of talk goes over well with cops!
My general assumption is that when this sort of thing happens, Jack simply pulls rank - "Torchwood business. This body is ours. Forget you saw anything." And while they don't actually forget (as with Retcon) they officially forget. No report is filed. No official record remains.
>> Jack simply pulls rank - "Torchwood business <<
Oh, agreed. It just seems that lots of fanfic assumes that everyone who sees anything somehow magically gets retconned. I think the show gets by on more arrogance and cover-up. (And I really need a Jack with coffee icon. Not sure how I've missed that one...)
