The thought of possibly going to the 94th Universal Congress of Esperanto in Białystok, Poland next year crossed my mind, since I'm still young enough that I don't have to pay to attend (it costs €150 for most people, I think). Airfare is way too expensive to justify it, though. Saving €150 is basically trivial at that point.

As far as a plane to Cuba, it would probably be a lot cheaper if you didn't have to land in another country first.

I say this as someone who didn't take this advice for far too long and now am making up for it with crazy abandon. which is alright too, I guess.

worth noting: this isn't some burning desire, I just thought it would be cool, since Zamenhof (the so-called "initiator") was born in Białystok and it's the 150th anniversary of his birth next year. I kind of wonder if the Congress itself is even interesting. how much would it suck to spend over a thousand dollars to go to something boring?
actually, now I'm looking at flights at different times from a different airport and it's a fair bit cheaper. still not cheap, though. who knows, maybe we'll see.
