how did you expose the dam picture? I've seen a lot of hydroelectric pictures taken that way, what's the technique behind it?

Just use a slow shutter whenever you want to blur water in motion. 1/15 sec should be sufficient for most situations. My exposure here is 30 seconds @ f/6.3 on ISO 200.
