I walked by the Busniess School on my way back from class today. As I passed the fountain, I noticed a tripod just standing out in the open, unattended. It was too sturdy and high featured to be for some construction workers sextant, so I looked closer. On it was a sticker: WDIV11a. After a quick look around, I spotted Ronda Walker, a WDIV morning ( Read more... )

good picture.
As a Canadian on the border, I watched Rhonda and so many others growing up.
So all your street & town references are familiar to me.
She really had a snippy voice with that comment?
Good celeb spotting - keep snapping the pics!

She's a good lookin lady.

The best response to "what are you taking pictures for" in ANY situation is...."because I can. This is America. Remember?"

if you were black she would have embraced you probobly, not that im racist but soemtimes people of different races wether they are white, black, indian, latina, or asian, are nicer to thier own race...so much for equality...im just mean to everyone so i guess i win im equal to all!

No, no, no! This is so true. I had originally wrote about the conversation the three were having, in which she kept saying black this, black that. Everything out of her mouth, besides the comment, was race oriented. But, I figured putting that in would be a little racy. (No pun intended.)

Precisely why I don't speak my mind about "hot-button" issues in my Live Journal. Someone always gets pissed off.

But, honestly, why does it matter? I'm not white. I'm mixed--half-Asian. I definitely don't go around saying that I want more Asian this, Asian that. I couldn't care less. How often do you hear the Chinese Americans running around talking about how their women were locked in "cribs" and sold into prostitution? Or how often do you hear Japanese Americans talking about their plight in interim camps during World War II?

People need to realize that the more we harp on race, even if it's under the guise of promoting equality, the more we impress and perpetuate the tensions and stereotypes that divide us. And that's the point that I'm trying to get at. Why does it have to be such an issue? Why can't we just look back and say, "Gosh, that was bad," and move on?

Oh, and by the way, the kid making that comment isn't even white. He's Lebonese. Tell me just how many Lebonese people you see on TV. ;-)
