The last time Eunhyuk saw his dad was two weeks ago, and he hasn’t been back since. Being the head of a large corporation, his father’s never home. And when he is, he doesn’t spare Eunhyuk a second glance. The moment he walks through the front door he goes straight to the kitchen to grab a new case of beer to empty, along with whatever food Eunhyuk’s just put in the fridge for. He walks as fast as he can to get there, because he’s rushing to get back into his room where he can be his disgusting self alone, without having to worry about his worthless son, and the things he’d see and the questions he’d ask.
The last time Eunhyuk saw his mother was seven years ago, when she decided to leave her son and husband behind. She said she found someone else, said she was going to be happier with the new man she’s going to marry. But as far as Eunhyuk knows - and things might be different now - there was no “someone else.” She just wanted an excuse out of the house, away from the two of them. Eunhyuk hates her now, because she was able to leave while he’s stuck here, alone. Always alone.
He hates his mother, but he can’t help loving his father. It’s a twisted truth, the logic makes no sense, and Eunhyuk almost wants to hate his dad for leaving him alone every day, giving him a childhood that no one should have. But he loves his dad, even though he isn’t sure the feeling is mutual.
There was a time that there was no doubt his dad loved him back. He took Eunhyuk to the store with him in his fancy black shiny car, took Eunhyuk to the amusement park where they’d ride and eat cotton candy together for hours, took Eunhyuk to the hospital when he broke his arm, let Eunhyuk come with him to some of his meetings, and sometimes they’d even go out and eat together. His father showed his face. His father came home every day. His father laughed, smile, and Eunhyuk couldn’t do anything wrong. His father loved him. (Those were the days.)
Eunhyuk can’t even remember the last time he saw the inside of that car. He sees his father’s face every now and then, and that’s only if he’s lucky. Sometimes he goes weeks without his dad. He doesn’t even know if his dad is capable of cracking a smile these days, and Eunhyuk feels like a mistake, the way his father ignores him as if he doesn’t exist. And when it comes to the question of his father loving him back, Eunhyuk isn’t so sure.
Tears aren't worth shedding anymore - they don't change the way things are. They don't make his dad love him.
He's a reject. A lost cause. And he doesn't know why.
