But not by Tokyopop. Viz Media announced during a North American anime convention that they'll going to pick up the ninth and tenth volumes only and if the sales follow, they'll acquire the rights to the older volumes as well. As they hand-picked Loveless from the whole Tokyopop's catalog and as it seems that the series wasn't doing that well sales ( Read more... )

This is wonderful news!

Not sure what sort of rep they have, but a number of my favorite titles are from Viz. I'm just happy they were willing to pick up Loveless. \o/

This news definitely put a stop to my nightmares of a fandom dying a slow death for lack of exposure!

My greatest concern with their reputation is if they are rumored to have good translations and if they don't do things like flipping the artwork or removing all the honorifics. :p

While I personally have no issue with the removal of honorifics, I recall now they did flip the art in X, which irked me for years. But I don't think that is standard practice. I could be wrong. I hope not.

I'm buying the Japanese volumes as well, so if Viz does drop the ball, I'll have those as a fallback, at least...

Oh wow! I never expected anyone would pick it up without also picking up the older volumes.

Yeah, it's a pretty strange business decision because by the time Viz Media comes to publish the unreleased volumes, the older ones will be hard to get even second hand, so I don't understand how they plan to promote the series. :/

This is just awesome. ♥u♥

The only Viz titles I own are shounen manga about card games XD; so I can't say much of use about their reputation or anything... but I'm excited nonetheless!

So much excitement!! <3

I haven't read a lot of manga from them. I believe they're responsible for Shojo Beat though, which I used to subscribe to a few years back.

I'm just glad I'll be able to have physical copies of the new Loveless chapters. *w*

Very cool news indeed~
I'm really excited to see their take on the translation so I'll probably buy them just for that reason as I already have the Japanese volumes. The wait will be hard!
