Actually, I do have one suggestion. I've been seeing a specialist at St. Mike's for excessive bleeding, and I can't recommend him highly enough. His name is Dr. Yudin, and he's very good at coming up with multiple treatment options. (I know this, since my body didn't respond to the first three we tried.) Maybe you can get your doctor to give you a referral to discuss options.
I wish I had a useful suggestion for you, but you do definitely have my sympathy.
I can tell you that Birth Control has done wonders for me, in this area. The pain reliever Anaprox worked for me as a teenager, but it stopped working after a few years, which I understand is typical of it. But even a few years of relief would be good, I guess.
I went to a Naturopath at one point, and they put me on magnesium supplements, which also helped a bit. Avoiding caffeine and alcohol (giving your liver less work) can also help, but that doesn't help you much right now, this month.
Birth control has worked in the past but I didn't like some of the side effects and now that I don't need it for the birth control, that option just seems to be less appealing.
I have also tried anaprox and even vioxx (thankfully not for very long) and they both worked for a little while but then the paid came back.
I have also heard suggestions about garlic, pineapple and onions but have only very little success with those as well.
Advil seems to take the edge off and makes the pain a little more manageable but it is still there.
Thankfully its not this bad every month and maybe it will be over quickly to compensate. One can always hope!
