About a year old, an interesting (if not tabloid-y) article about Indians on TV, in big main and recurring roles.  I thought it was interesting, and got me thinking about how trends like this can grow.  What do people think about this recent character writing and casting trend, and how does it factor into the effort to get Asians in a similar

Sorry I should have been more specific in differentiating regions: "Indian" referring to the subcontinent India and "Asian" referring to East Asia. Forgive me for assume that would be automatically interpreted

And you make some good points, but I think there are some serious improvements in the way of Indians on TV these days, and I don't mean commercials. Looking at shows like "Big Bang Theory", "Covert Affaris", "Royal Pains", "Heroes", Rules of Engagement", "House" (in the days of Kal Penn) just to name a few, you see a growing tend of Indian characters in legitimate lead roles. Now movies are a whole different story, but I'm just focusing on TV here.
