I came across an article yesterday, on comingsoon.net, about a new movie - The Great Wall, - which "looks at the mystery behind how China's Great Wall was constructed from a story conceived by Legendary Pictures chairman Thomas Tull and Max Brooks."

Exciting, yes? A great opportunity for Chinese actors?

Edward Zwick co-wrote and is set to direct. His previous directing credits include The Last Samurai, starring Tom Cruise. Also Glory (1989), "based on the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, the first formal unit of the US Army to be made up entirely of African American men, as told from the point of view of Colonel Robert Gould Shaw, its commanding officer during the American Civil War." (from wiki) Note: The Colonel is a white dude.

...so yes, I think we should be worried.

I'm entirely confused as to how while people are going to be stuck in this story, but I guess anything's possible.

Ugh, I didn't notice it was Edward Zwick. Watched both of those movies and they were so faily. :(.

My bet is he's going to be a. shipwrecked or b. some sort of Explorer! Visiting exotic lands! And seeing it's Zwick, he's going to be angsty about something but he'll Learn Important Lessons from the Exotic! natives, and in turn teach them how to pile stones on top of each other, which they would otherwise never have been able to figure out by themselves. bah, humbug.

Yeah. The most I could poooossibly stretch my benefit of the doubt was say 'well, maybe if they use a framing device of, like, students in a history class learning the story. Or something?' But yeah, my guess is this is not going to be the case :(. It'll probably end up something like 'dude shipwrecked in China builds Wall' or 'unheard-of explorer goes native and builds wall'. And after the previous comment of who the director is... :(
