It's because you're naturally so tiny and all you've gained is baby weight, so that's all people see when they look at you. You wait and see, you'll lose 20lbs the very second she is born.
But yeah. That's the kind of comment people should keep to themselves.
Just try not to beat yourself up too much in the next two months. You'll gain more weight in the last few months than any other time. At the end you gain a LOT of fluid weight, and it gets to be depressing to not be able to put on your rings and to see four chins when you look in the mirror. But that's not "real" fat and it does go away pretty fast once the baby comes, I promise.
Ha - I was just thinking that I needed to do a contrast post about the things I am grateful for, one of which is "My rings still slide on their own around my finger!"
I felt enormous at the end, but I only gained 30 pounds, 20 of which I lost in the first couple weeks. And that's pretty normal, so you can expect that to happen to you too.
I'm surprised that all my worrying about people touching me and bothering me all the time was for nothing. People here just aren't that friendly.
Oh, and did you see how huge Amy Poehler's belly was? We had our babies one day apart and she was way, way bigger than I was. My husband thought she was for sure having twins. So it all depends on how you carry the baby and how the baby is positioned in there.
People are dumb and if they've never had a baby they don't understand how sensitive and emotional pregnant women can be.
Oh!! Also, one of the surgeons I worked for told me that it's totally normal for a person's body weight to fluctuate up to 5 pounds from day to day.
And that's what I'll hope - that when she's feeling huge and uncomfortable but still has a little ways to go, someone says something so rude to her that she gets upset until she remembers that one time, she did mention to a strange pregnant woman that she looked closer to her due date than she claimed.
Yeah - people definitely go stupid around pregnant women. I think pregnant women make people nervous so they don't know what to say. I don't know WHY...

Five pounds??? wow. I've heard 2, but never 5.
And I just sort of felt like it was rude...like telling a fat person you thought they weighed WAY more than what they said.

At least you weren't subjected to the much-worse faux pas: asking a non-pregnant woman who's just gained a little weight when she's due.
