I am reading CA law on work hours. (just out of curiosity of what the law is. Such as if legally they are supposed to pay you time and a half for any hours over 8 in a day or just 40 in a week. I've heard different things and it seems like nobody is sure ( Read more... )

I think if you dig deep enough you might actually find a list of events that fall under that category. It's mostly a catch-all phrase though. Mostly means earthquake, flood, hurricane, tornado, blizzard, avalanche, etc. Not really a religious term, but I guess if the building became an inferno of hellfire and brimstone, that'd count too.

the modern term is "natural disaster", of all places I would think CA wouldn't be using that old terminology. (but when I think about it CA is a lot more old fashioned/religious than I care to realize and admit).

For sure its 8 hrs in a day (I had to read more work law books than any human should working for blockbuster)
