My Daddy is sick. Not like flu sick. Liver disease sick. He has been in and out of the hospital for several months now, and each time it seems likes things get worse and worse. Today I found out that without a liver transplant, he has less than a year to live. This for a man who has never had a drop of alcohol in his life. With the average wait ( Read more... )

Thanks Amanda. It's been hard, but hearing that he only has a year to live made it a million times harder. I appreciate your thoughts.

Why didn't you tell me sooner that he was sick?! I'm so sorry, My. A lot can happen in a year though, so don't give up hope. And people outlive their doctors expectations all the time!

Thanks peanut. I haven't really talked about it with anyone except David. And I think it was easier to just pretend it wasn't happening. The good news is, since he is so sick, he's very high on the transplant list. He is fighting a blood infection now, but once he gets through that, he'll be top on the list. He's at the Charlottesville, VA hospital now instead at the crack smoking CAMC, so that helps too. I'll keep you posted!

Suprisingly well. You know her. She's aways optimistic even when things get rough. I don't know how she does it! I'd be a basketcase!

i was just having a conversation at work with my boss about losing a father. his went at fifty-one, and i had to stop talking about it, because i can't even deal with the thought...mine is almost sixty. i'm saying a BIG prayer for your family!!

Thanks. My Dad is 63 and I am no where close to being able to think of my life without him in it.
