French Lieutenant's Woman? Awesome book! Don't be fooled by the initial pompous style - Fowles is partly taking a poke at 19th century authorial omniscience. It's a book of profound understanding I feel... The Collector is pretty good too; and I've had The Magus recommended to me in very strong terms, though I've yet to try it.

That's the one... I can't believe how long it's been since I sank my teeth into a proper book without having to scrutinise every single word, trying to commit each one to memory. Ugh.
