I was looking for sorbetto yesterday, and I went to a Gelato place and asked if they had sorbetto, and they had none at all! So then I went to another place, and while the guy was helping someone I looked at the flavors, and one said "soia", so I asked him if it was made with soy milk instead of real milk. He said it was. He showed me all the flavors they had with no real milk, including all the sorbetto. I ended up having one that was rice milk with vanilla flavor, and strawberry sorbetto. I plan to go back there every day and try different combinations. They unfortunately didn't have any interesting flavors. The only ones with vegan milks were the soy with no flavoring and the rice-vanilla. But they were still really good.
We should totally wander Europe together sometime. And we need to come to Siena and stay at this hotel. You would love it. It has a garden and a big living-room type area that is shared, with couches and books and stuff. It feels like someone's home, albeit a very big home.
Sounds like you are enjoying yourself. If you are still in Siena when you get this message, you should visit the convent of St.Catherine and also the church where her head is kept as a relic - St.Dominic (I believe).
Thank you for the advice! I will try to go to Santa Caterina and St. Dominic's later today. I will have an hour or two free after lunch. I'm at a conference and I don't have a lot of free time, unfortunately.
Way to survive being lost a still have a good time! I'm terrified of being lost, so I never travel by myself. But you seem quite capable! I'm glad you're having such a great time :)

Jonathon lived in Sienna for about 3 months last Spring. He and his girlfriend are vegetarian, so they may have some tips on good vegan restaurants or market suggestions. Jon's Dad

I'm so jealous. Someday when we're both rich and lazy, let's wander Europe.
