OK, I've lost all social skills, ability to interact with people in real life (even close friends), and cannot leave my room. Oh well. This isn't meant as wangst, I'm actually reasonably happy.

On the plus side I have a good argument for why feminist critics were wrong about Hegel fitting into some sort of tradition of western philosophy with attaches men to the public or political sphere and women to the private or familial sphere. Hegel is in fact showing this to be a result of the part of history the Greeks inhabited, or their form of consciousness. Feminists, who see gender as a social construction should therefore love Hegel.

Derrida is, in fact, quite fun, though terrifyingly and annoyingly incomprehensible at times.

I will leave you all with a couple of amusing quotes from the (surprisingly good) book that my Dad gave me by Philip K. Dick - A scanner darkly

"He said nothing; he merely kept on washing. The bastard wasn't worth answering....He paid no attention to Charles Freck, only to himself. To his own vital, demanding, terrible, urgent needs...".

[When Charles Freck is asked for his name by police]. "To survive in this fascist police state, he thought, you gotta always be able to come up with a name, your name. At all times. That's the first sign they look for that you're wired, not being able to figure out who the hell you are."
