free anti-virus?

i'm wondering if any of you use any free/very cheap yet good and reliable anti-virus software. right now i have the whole mcafee deal that came with my computer, but when it is up it is not cheap to renew. if that's what i NEED to do, i will, but i thought first i'd check and see if anyone has a free/cheap alternative to recommend ( Read more... )

avast! seems to be working fine for me...that's what i went with.

dear the loin queen,

back when i was using windowses, i had good luck with avast! antivirus. it's pretty highly regarded (did a bunch of research before i decided to give it a go, and found several good reviews on it), it's free, and it's called AVAST ANTIVIRUS. you really can't beat a product with a PIRATE REFERENCE right there in the name.

I use Zonealarm (well, okay, I don't at the moment, because my windows partition doesn't have internet on it, but I WOULD). That's a firewall, but I believe that it has an antivirus component or an asociated program.

it goes on my list. i'm trying avast! right now, but i'll use zonealarm as a backup. i totally appreciate the input! thank you wicked much.

thanks! goes on my list if/when i decide i don't like avast! i forgot about that one...someone at some point had recommended AVG to me and i forgot about it. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ASSistance.
