So exactly what is a dental clearance? Making sure you don't have transmitters in your fillings that the Russians are using to secretly control your brain or something?

No, it's actually even siller than that. It's making sure that I/we can go without ready access to dental treatment for a year. Because, you know, there are no dentists in Ohio.
