I watched the Constant Gardner in the Union tonight. Yay for beautifully-shot socially conscious films. Boo for how screwed up the world is. Pharmaceutical companies that would rather sacrifice African lives than money and research time. Sometimes I get so depressed at the unfairness of the world. Why do some lives seem so "worthless"? We make believe the world is beautiful and full of love; but in reality it is brutal, ruthless, and chaotic. Survival of the fittest. Power, wealth, social status, some people can do anything to gain them. I don't think people naturally think others are worthless, we simply don't hesitate to take advantage on the weaker others. The neglection of lives of China by its own government, constant+meaningless fighting in Africa, made things easier...
