I have another question for diabetes sufferers or those who know them: are vision problems routine when acclimating to one's meds? Part of the reason I'm not online as much is that blurred vision is making it difficult to read and increases my eyestrain when I sit down to catch up on news, email, blogs, etc.

What meds are you on? The two I've taken (Metformin and Byetta) don't seem to have that effect, but I did notice that the blood pressure meds had one.

The thing is, blurred vision is also a side effect of two of my other meds. I'm on Metformin for my diabetes, plus Motrin, Ultram and Flexeril for my back. It's the latter two that can cause that. While I haven't suffered blurred vision with them before, to any significant degree, it doesn't preclude having it now as there could be a synergistic response.

Well I don't know much about those meds, since they're not used in children very often. However, if you're having a bad headache along with the eye blurriness - I would go to the ER. It could be elevated blood pressure.

No headaches, the only aches I have are neck and shoulder ones... no doubt tied to the blurriness due to my posture lately. I find myself hunching forward at the computer to shed that extra little bit of distance that I sometimes need to focus adequately on smaller text.

I mentioned it to her on the 26th when I saw her, she wants me to see an opthamologist (which I can't afford, being broke) just to verify that I'm not in the early stages of glaucoma. I really think it's tied to the meds, because it wasn't a problem before I started taking regular daily doses of Ultram and Flexeril again and even then it was minor until I started taking the Metformin. Perhaps it will go away once my body has acclimated to the metabolic change it's undergoing.
