Wow, first legitimate post in my journal.  And it's a rant.
About Nintendo DS games.

There look to be some good DS games coming out this year.  However, some of this year's DS games have me concerned about the future of humanity.

Case in point: Foto Showdown

Until now, there have been DS games that are "DSi enhanced"- games that have extra features if ( Read more... )

I'd like to criticize the absence of a slot for Game Boy Advance cartridges. I know some have the opinion that the exchange is reasonable in relation to the SD card support and the DSi Shop, but seriously, I really wouldn't care about losing 4mm of thickness in order to play a GBA game.

I've also heard that there's an issue with camera quality. Apparently, even cell phone can take better pictures than a DSi which is ironic considering cell phones are much smaller!

So, outside of the DSi Shop, is there anything else about it that stands out? Ultimately, it looks like it's main problem is lack of content than anything else. Then again, it's probably too early to judge.

Oh, hai. First comment.

I don't own a DSi, so I can't critique it too much, but I have used one.

It seemed that for as much as it added, it also took away just as much:
SD slot for GBA
cameras for battery life
etc.

I thought the media player (one of its selling points) was kind of gimmicky. Come on, it can't even play mp3's.
The DSi Shop hasn't had any groundbreaking or "must-have" games

Overall, the DSi has felt like a pseduo-upgrade to extend the life of the system before the DS 2 or equiv.

I think it hasn't taken off like Nintendo thought it would because many (incl. myself) don't see a reason to upgrade.

However, some of the rumors for the DS 2 sound exciting, like Nvidia graphics.
