I actually totally agree with you. I am very much pro-life, because there just isn't ever any excuse to end a life before it can ever begin. How can you willingly kill someone who hasn't had the chance to live? I can't stand the thought ( ... )

I hope I don't come across as completely heartless (and your story was truly moving) but: I think you're mixing some labels here.

Pro-choice does not mean pro-abortion. It's a mistake that most everybody makes. I, personally am pro-choice. If I were presented with the predicament of an unwanted pregnancy, I would most likely not abort the baby. This does not make me pro-life, however.

The fact that your mother chose to give birth to you is pro-choice. She able to make the decision on her own. There was the possibility---and that's why I am pro-choice. I believe in giving the mother the ability to decide, not taking away her free will.

What she said. :)

Pro-choice is exactly that...choice. I personally would never, ever have an abortion...but I don't want the government telling me I can't, ya know? All "pro-life" means, at least as far as the government goes, is that they support making abortion illegal. The sad fact is that a woman who really wants to have an abortion will get an abortion, whether it's legal or not. The difference is that now, she can go to her doctor and have a safe operation. If it's illegal, she'll have to find someone willing to break the law and perform the operation (which is expensive and potentially dangerous) or seek other, potentially more unsafe, options.

That's why, even though I am anti-abortion, I consider myself "pro-choice" as far as politics go. I hope that made sense.

I understand your reasons, though, and my heart goes out to you (and every time you write about your mother, I'm always stunned by what an amazing woman it sounds like she was).
