The morning of September 11th 2001... was probably the most normal morning of my life. I'd woken up late. Got to college late. Been let out of class late. And now, me and my friend Scott were late for our afternoon lessons - rushing along the main street en-route to the college, dodging through the crowds, bottles of diet coke in one hand and ( Read more... )

It is true, what you said about thinking it was a shame that it took grief to unite America. I felt the same thing, and here I am, and American. I felt like no one really cared about anyone else, until it happened to us, in our own country. I wouldn't wish so bad that you could be "one of us". The fighting has just begun with the presidential elections just around the corner, and no two people agreeing with each other. I'm half afraid to even state my beliefs. Everyone is against Bush for going to war, but you know what, everyone was on his case when we got bombed that we need to "get them" and when Bush tried, now everyone hates him. I don't get it. And the people killed have just been exploited to make a quick buck. It's really quite sad.

God, you're not even from my country and you've made me feel more proud of it then I have been in quite a while. (I'm never ashamed of it- no, but you've made me feel all patriotic again ^^) Thanks for the reminder.

I live in a military community (okay, on a military base!) and its amazing to me, how quickly things have gone back to the way they were before 9-11. People seem to forget so fast. It was great to see so much patriotism, right after 9-11, but I wish I could see that everyday.
