Twitter has reduced my motivation to make LJ entries more regularly. Sorry.

More people need to do this meme for me, it's fun and easy for you.
Give me a letter and I'll upload a song or two for you starting with that letter.

Sunday:
-Glee day with some Panto people. Gleeeeee.
-Nonna's, where I was happy to discover the baked cappucino cheesecake I made for Dad was an INCREDIBLE SUCCESS OMG DELICIOUS
-Out for dinner (got a bit drunk on fullness, had Dad say to me 'Don't be offended, but you look like a drunken whore'.)

Monday:
After a morning of Wii, I had to catch a bus to Kiara's school to show her how to catch a bus home from school. Riveting. Lucky bitch has such a short, simple journey home from school. I used to have to walk two blocks, catch a bus, walk through a shopping centre, catch a bus, walk. Gosh.
I then got to work planning an antipasto platter for dinner (which is not the point of antipasto), because we haven't had one in ages, and because Mum told me to buy cold meats. I decided to make some fancy things so it wasn't just salami and cheese and bread and olives, so looked through Mum's Canapes book and chose basil-marinated bocconcini tomato skewers and mini ginger chicken patties. Also made vegetable chips out of sweet potato, beetroot and parsnip. It was very time consuming. And very delicious.

Tuesday:
Delivered a parcel to the Post Office for Mum, and purchased various moisturising things to feel better about myself in general, and also purchased things to make mexican for dinner, and then made mexican for dinner. But it was sort of crap for some reason.
Also watched New York, I Love You. Have mixed feelings about it. Some of the films were pretty great, most were pretentious, some were lulzy. Anton was adorable of course.

Wednesday:
Made my very first attempt at the notoriously difficult holy grail (of sorts) of baking that is macarons. Failed miserably, but that's sort of the point when you start out. But it wasn't all because I was crap at it: our electric beater died, and I just don't have the strength to whisk egg whites to the degree they need to be whisked, by hand. Plus I don't think they were dried out enough (/at all). Luckily I also made cheesecake brownies because I knew the macarons would fail, and wanted to have something to show for my day of baking. And holy shit, cheesecake brownies, you are so worth the grievous injury to my finger caused by the Philadelphia cheese you required. Recipe (and a generally awesome blog about France and food): http://www.davidlebovitz.com/archives/2008/10/cheesecake_brownies.html

Thursday:
X-FILES DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.
This time featuring Mulder almost dying but being saved by Indians, and Scully almost being decapitated and cooked into chicken. Mmm. Mulder can't seem to implement the rather simple rule of NEVER SENDING SCULLY TO INVESTIGATE THE HOUSE OF A PERSON LIKELY TO BE MURDERED, ON HER OWN. It has ended badly so many times. Also there were guest appearances by Giovanni Ribisi, Jack Black, the Dad from Everybody Loves Raymond, and that guy with the accent. I *love* spotting guest appearances on The X-Files.

Friday:
Didn't have to go to work until 5 (instead of 9), so spent the day making a second attempt at macarons. Not chocolate ones this time. Slight setback in that I didn't have enough ground almonds and so ground slivered almonds, but that made it sort of wet and it was hard to sift it. But it worked so much better. Very exciting. They're sort of chewy on the inside though, so not yet proper macarons.
Watched all my NBC Thursday Night tv shows. I think Community is becoming my favourite show. Does anyone else watch it? I feel a bit creepy but I ship Jeff/Annie, like, a lot.
A clip:

(Jeff is the one who is Joel McHale, Annie is in the skeleton costume)
I then took two busses and a 30-minute walk to work (it's like a seven minute drive fffuuu), getting off the second bus like four stops too early and so extending the walking time. Dumb.

Saturday:
Trekked to Applecross for an underwhelming Pushing Daisies + Baking Pies day. The turnout was pretty low, and the baking wasn't really organised, but it was still good. Plus we watched a couple episodes of Ace of Cakes, and holy crap. I'm so addicted. I have to learn to use fondant.

Sunday:
Mostly nothing.

So did I tell you about how Dad had been scoping out this dream car Alfa to buy, and the day he decided to buy it, the shithead salesman sold it to someone else whilst Dad was at his mechanic's? Well Uncle Robbie found another Alfa this week, without the spoiler Dad didn't like on the first one, with leather interior, and cheaper, being sold privately. AMAZING, RIGHT? It is currently outside our house, because the owner let Dad take it home so he can take it to his mechanic in the morning (A+ trust, owner), and if Mario (mechanic) can't find anything major wrong with it, Dad will make an offer on it tomorrow. IT IS SUCH AN AWESOME CAR, GUYS. I had a ride in it and it's really, really cool. Dad would be so psyched to own it. Plus Dad having another car means the beat-up Commodore becomes MIIIIINE! I'LL HAVE A CAR! It's an automatic, so not ideal for learning in, but overcoming one more hurdle to becoming transport-independent is very exciting. Now just to learn how to drive.
