Did you ever make those feather headbands? I was curious (if you did) where you found the feathers. The ones at Michael's that I saw weren't quite right (IMO) for a daily-wear headband. They were all too fluffy and showy. Great for my costuming, but not so great for daily-wear.
I did a double band headband with velvet leaves, in fall colors, a single headband with red and black curled feathers, and some flower barrettes. The amazing curled feathers were a Christmas gift from Kij, that I pulled apart into the individual feathers.
I have a boot box full of black ostrich boas that might come out to play, as well.
I'd love to see what you came up with...although, really, I think summer (what with the accompanying humidity and frizz) might not be the best time for me to be wearing feathers on my head.
Girlgoth used to make ones like the first link (though hers were better, IMO). She no longer does it for a variety of reasons, but they're not difficult at all, just labor-intensive. Cut multiple strips of fabric (hers were about 1 inch wide by 5 inches long, but you could do longer or wider for a different effect), and knot them around a wide ponytail elastic (like the large thick ones here). You can use as many strips of fabric in as many different patterns/colors/types of fabric as appeals to you.
Yes! Those are the ones I was thinking of! Cupcakegoth wears them beautifully, and I was thinking of something similar but different somehow- Like on a barrette, or different materials or whatever.
I will play around with fabric, then, if girlgoth no longer makes things like that...
