I'm sure most of you are aware of LJ's Latest Greatest Idea that involves cross-posting comments from LJ to FB and Twitter. It's opt-in if you want to post things elsewhere, but if anyone else has connected their LJ to either of the other sites, they are able to crosspost comments they leave on your entries- even comments on locked postsThe idea ( Read more... )

Okay, I was concerned before and jumped on the hatewagon, but this is just more horrible than I first imagined.

LJ is the reason I have the friends I do and it would take a lot for me to disown it, but within the last couple years, they've screwed up a lot. It really makes me wonder what their MO is in this site. What I thought it was about seems to be diametrically opposed to the direction those in charge want to take it.

Mmmmhmm... it makes me really sad because I don't know that everyone I want to keep in touch with would move to the same site and then it would be so much tougher to maintain friendships that have grown from this connection :(
I hate to see the FB-like direction it seems to be headed. Way to NOT keep in tune to your userbase??

I know- I was horrified to see how brazenly privacy concerns were tossed aside :(
