I use Adblock Plus and have done so ever since I learned it existed. It's always a bit of a shock to me when I'm forced to use IE for whatever reason and see how many ads are on most sites. Recently, however, a couple of media sites have sought to get around adblockers by informing visitors to the site that you have to turn off your adblocker if you want to see any of their content. Fair enough, I have done that for those two sites, but now rarely visit them. Not specifically because they have ads, but because the ads that they have take ages to load for whatever reason (and I have a really fast broadband connection) and I just get fed up waiting for all the various analytics and whatnot to load. If you're going to have ads on your site, fine, but make sure they don't compromise the performance of your site.

I will add that what bugs me even more than ads is this trend on various sites to have theses pop-ups asking you to sign up for newletters or to like them on facebook, etc. So annoying.

I never see ads, I have an excellent adblocker by the looks of it. None on LJ because I have a permanent account and I never see them on Facebook or my gmail at all
