Do you recycle? Why or why not?

I try to make it habit to recycle EVERYTHING I can whenever I can. Even using spagehti jars for storage/sprouting, Grocery bags as trash/recycle bags.

BUT, I've read many things that suggest some forms of recycling dont really save/prevent anything. (such as glass?)

But for me it doesnt really matter, Its the principal and the discipline, even if right now recycling doesnt really produce a 'net gain' of resource savings right now, in our lifetimes it will... and its nice to know that I'm prepared for it, and that I'm trying to slow it down, however I can.

Yeah, I feel the same way - I've argued up and down with a million people about the benefits of recycling, but as you said, I think it's critical to do it and keep doing it until there is a net gain.

I recycle car batteries, tires and oil and various other automotive substances (I'm a man, who wants to touch me?)

But I don't recycle common garbage. Milk jugs go in the same bag the kitty litter goes in. I'm not provided the means in my apartment complex.

I'm going to cut down a tree with my bare hands.

Re-use first when applicable, then recycle.
this disposable culture sucks, and I like to try to balance that out

I think that's an important aspect - not buying a bunch of non-reusable packaging to begin with.
