So... I'm thinking of adopting a cat. I went to the Animal Shelter today and fell in love with a very small one year old female cat. She is mixed plain grey and orange tabby and looks really cool. We walked into the cat room...yes cat room-- there were literally 20 or so cats perched all around the tiny room (tina you would have been in hell lol ( Read more... )

Cats generally litter train really easily. The biggest issue will be to get a litter mat around the tray or put it on an area easily swept.

Cats will give you the whole "fuck you" if they don't want to be bothered while dogs generally want attention all the time...

bottom line ....

cats = bitches (in the good bitch of the east way)... but awesome and don't need 100% attention 100% of the time.

dogs = adorable... kinda like a kid that stays cute and you don't have to push out... and you can put it in a cage and not get arrested... heh... anywho...

If you get the cat and introduce a dog in the future... it's all about the introduction. ...AND if you don't get it declawed, you will want to get the caps for the claws.. they're the best thing ever for them :)

Oh I am so fascinated by those caps for cat claws!! Are they really hard to put on?

This cat is already litter trained thankfully. I have a kind of small apartment and dont want litter in my bedroom or kitchen...so I was thinking in the bathroom by the toilet? I'm not in there a lot either. I guess if she doesnt like that I can clean out a closet and put the litter in there.

I also figure, if I get a cat it can take care of itself while I am at work. It would be nice to have a little companion around the house, and might help with my winter depression.

I don't have a problem putting the caps on mine, though my mom can't get them on her cat, so I have to do it for her. Her cat must hate this random person he doesn't know who comes over and trims his claws. I wrap them up in a blanket like a burrito and hug them to my chest and trim one paw at a time like that. The caps I have you fill with glue, not brush on glue to the nails.

Bathroom by the toilet would be just fine for a litter box, easily swept as mentioned above. If you can, try to get/fit one with a lid. Some cats won't take to it, but sometimes if you just start 'em out like that, it works. I also agree that closet would be good, but you'd have to leave the door cracked.

The caps are crazy easy to put on... you swipe brush against the nails, slip the cap on, press for a few seconds... and done... they're amazing for cats and dogs...

The closet would probably be better... it'll give the cat a sense of "sanctuary"

....I love my dogs.. but cats are so much easier to take care of x_X

This is where I feel bad, because if I chose between a cat and a dog, the dog would win every time. I do like cats, just not as much. Haha. Unfortunately, my landlords will not allow dogs and I'm lonely and want a pet. This doesn't mean I wouldn't love and take care of the cat, just wish I could get a dog!!

At least with my busy work schedule, it won't be as bad leaving a cat home alone. I wish the shelter was open tonite!!
