Did you know that the original concept art for Disney's Bambi is really pretty? I haven't seen the movie in ages, so maybe it's just as lovely. Is it? (It probably is...but I still like the concept art.)
Wow! Those are so evocative! I love how they sit astride the border between representational and abstract: they are pictures of real things, but so vaguely that they are also pictures of feelings.
I love the second picture, of the trees leaning against the deep blue sky and the little deer, and the one of the deer walking through the falling snow.

Absolutely! There are actually a few pictures without deer in them, but I like it best when you can see just a hint of deer, if that makes any sense. Like you're saying: when the real things are there, but vague. I'm not going to repeat you, you said it quite nicely and all. : )
Anyway I'm hoping I'll have enough free time in England (I leave at the end of the week) to try to turn some of these into icons. I might play with the colors a bit, see what I can do with them. : )
Ooooh! Purty! Thanks for sharing! I become obsessed with the Tangled concept art recently, and this is just as beautiful, in a completely different way.
Also: HI YOU!
I cannot see Bambi without thinking of Andrew Garfield. This is a problem.

My favorite is the third, which is actually a bit stronger without the black background: http://animationarchive.net/Feature%20Films/Bambi/Concept%20Art/Bambicolor3.jpg

HI BACK! How are you doing?
This is my personal, slighlty-wrong Bambi association: http://www.imglols.com/wp-content/main/2009_05/bambi-2-display-fail.jpg
