I don't usually like Irene because she distracts Sherlock from John, but as long as she is facilitating John/Sherlock, then she's all right in my book.
I definitely got frustrated with Irene in "Scandal In Belgravia"--it's upsetting to see someone come between John and Sherlock! But one of the best things about writing this fic was that I kind of love her now. : )

But I loved this at the end!

She's neither here, nor there, a bit elusive, in that she's both connecting to Sherlock and having "it" for him, yet keeping herself independent-kudos for conveying that in a story which is essentially a modern day epistolary!
Irene is such a difficult and interesting character, isn't she? Lately I've grown more frustrated with Moffat's version of her in the show--especially after I read his rebuttal to accusations of anti-feminism. I actually wrote this fic first and then went back via editing to make Irene more canon-compliant. I feel like the biggest trick with her is, like you said, making her independent despite her attraction to Sherlock (which is the heart of the anti-feminist complaints, as I understand them). But having her understand and respect John's relationship with Sherlock was actually a really easy solution to the problem. It helps that the groundwork is already there in canon!
I almost wish they had a threesome.:)I'm pretty sure this incarnation of Irene would ( ... )

To write from Irene's pov was an excellent idea.
Alos, I ADORE the idea with the skulls - that's so romantic in a Sherlockian way.
Thank you for sharing.

I'm glad you got felt the boys' emotions all the way over from my Irene POV--that was the intention, but I was a little worried about writing a John/Sherlock fic without any actual John and Sherlock scenes.
P.S. I am SUPER in love with your icon! Just for the record. : )
