Why Every TV Addict Should Knit!

i have no shame in admitting i'm addicted to my tv. (before the new season starts i should probably make a post with all the tv shows i'll be following, and the ones i've given up.) plus, there are always old series to get caught up on, and movies to see...point is, i spend a lot of my time in front of a tv or computer screen. and though i love my ( Read more... )

Wow, you've just learnt how to knit and you're already making shirts? You are truly amazing. The only seasons where I live are Hot and Hotter, so even socks are out of the question,.. anyway, the most I've done are scarves for stuffed toys, and there was a period a while ago when I was obsessed with various kinds of pastries. The animals are really cute too and the site is awesome =D, I think I might steal some if I find the time, thanks!

ooh, i like the pastries! also, if you can knit on dpns (my only weakness so far), you should definitely check out this pattern-cUTEST THING EVER. (imho) also here is another food-y piece of dpn cuteness!

but feel free to steal whatever you want!

Holy cows, that shirt is awesome! I really need to branch out and do something like that, but I'm hopeless when it comes to knitting in the round. I really could use some sweaters for the mountains, though :)

aw, thanks! i don't think knitting in the round is too bad, as long as it's not on dpns! at the same time, you should be able to find patterns that use a seam instead of going in the round, right?

Aaagh, those are so cute! Omigod! *pets them and holds them*

I once saw someone who made a Dr. Horrible doll - do you want me to link you to it? I don't know if they gave the pattern for it...

I think my mom tried to teach me to knit as a kid, but it was boring and hard so I stopped after the first try, lol. Seems like fun though.

Oh and you should make a Jayne hat! They have patterns of those somewhere.

yeah, pattern or no i'd love a link!

i've definitely seen patterns of the jayne hats, and they do scream *make me as a present!* but i don't have the yarn yet. : )

Cool, it's here. Judged it and some other neat DHSAB creation-y things in the Horrible Awards.

aw, thanks!

well these projects are mostly done with size 3 needles, but they're very small and might be tricky for a first project. (the needle size also depends on the thickness of the yarn you're using).
since you're just beginning i'd avside checking out projects labeled "mellow" on knitty.com- it has a lot of complex projects, but the mellow ones should be a good starting place.

let me know how it goes/if you want help!

oooh, all of your crafts sound awesome! (especially the shoes!) it's way cool i have a fellow crafty person on my f-list, too. : )

Wow that shirt is awesome! I have just started knitting, mostly by looking at a book my mom gave me and just trying to figure it out. So far a scarf is all I have tried, but if I manage to feel comfortable about it I want to branch out soon. I do know that there is a stich and bitch meet up group in London, so I kind of want to go along to that. I feel like they would be helpful and it might be easier to have people show you stuff rather than just look at pictures in a book.

thanks! the shirt actually wasn't very hard, and the pattern comes with lots of adjustments so it can look good on everyone. : )

i've never been to a stich and bitch meeting, but i bet you're right about the support. if you have any basic questions about yarn types or anything i can try to answer, too. good luck with your knitting, and let me know how it goes!
