5x5 (Part 1)

as a result of this meme (which is still "open" or whatnot), i have been making lots of lists! which is awesome, i like lists. even when the decisions are (if slightly superficial) very hard. this is about 1/3 of the questions, because i ramble a bit on each answer.

Corny as Kansas in August )

pushing daisies is love, doctor who = fantastic, wonderfalls makes me smile, pseudo-meta, movies, btvs is classic, life as a fangirl, picspam, dollhouse is a puzzle

I love all of your choices for fav. episodes. Looooove them. (Except for the Wonderfalls one, but that's only because I haven't seen Wonderfalls. If I had seen it, I no doubt would love it, too). GREAT TASTE YOU HAS.

AND YOUR FIREFLY CHOICES ARE FLAWLESS, TOO. OH "OUT OF GAS." It so, so is about the building of that family, and it is so beautiful.

I'm going to be sitting over here in the corner, flailing about Mal/Inara and Willow/Oz for a while, okay?

In honor of the awesome that is They Might Be Giants: "Istanbul was Constantinople, now it's Istanbul not Constantinople--why did Constantinople get the works? That's nobody's business but the Turks!"

aw, thanks! i totally wish you've seen wonderfalls, too, now, just so you could appreciate the AMAZINGNESS that is "caged bird." it just brilliant.

firefly was hard, too! mostly because i thought it'd be super-easy- the final three were snap judgments. but i cycled through virtually every other episode to fill spots four and five... it was bad.

haha YES AWESOME I APPROVE.

Love your fave episodes (both the Firefly list and the overall list) though mine would be slightly different. I think my top 5 Firefly episodes would be Objects in Space, War Stories, Out of Gas, Safe, and Shindig. Maybe in that order. As for my top 5 of all time...
1. OMWF
2. Objects in Space
3. Caged Bird
4. Kobol's Last Gleaming (battlestar)
5. ok this is really hard. I love Epitaph One and The Parting of the Ways but I'm just not sure they belong on my list. Maybe I'd just say Restless or something. Or a FOTC episode or something. Maybe "Mugged," I think that's what the rhymenoceros episode is called...

And I don't know most of those bands but OH THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS, I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. as you know.

shindig was on and off my list repeatedly. safe never made it there, even though i love the episode. just, there are too many others!

OMWF will be coming back, i can promise that. it's on a list, somewhere... *is mysterious.* and i LOVE that caged bird is in the same place on your list as mine! it was kind of a surprise choice for me, because i tend to overlook wonderfalls, but it really is a masterful episode.

what season is the kobol thing from? just curious.

i totally know about your they might be giants love, of course! hm, i'm not sure any of the other groups quite rival TMBG, though i would say cake does a pretty awesome job- their lyrics are similarly clever (and they wrote the chuck theme song!) and catchy. the feeling is also pretty addictive...look for "i love it when you call," maybe. : )

hmm, is OMWF perhaps appearing in my music list? the one that lj ate... :P

kobol's last gleaming is the season one finale. AND IT IS FRAKKING AMAZING. still. even with the bitterness. it has this opening sequence that is a work of art, rivaled only by, well, by the opening sequence for Occupation, the first episode of season three. but anyway, Kobol's Last Gleaming is my favorite bsg episode of all time, probably. Kara has a very significant role in it, of course.

the only cake song i know is short skirt/long jacket...

...so you could theoretically watch just season 1 of bsg and be exposed to the best episode ever?
i may have to keep this in mind.

go look for "going the distance" by CAKE - it's one of my favorites.

See, now I have to go through them all!!

YAY!!

Aw, your episode choices??

Epitaph One is fantabulous. Topher really sold it to me, if I'm completely honest. I've said time and time again, I was not feeling Dollhouse at first... I knew I'd watch it, being such a Joss fan, but I was kind of dubious as to whether I was going to love it. Topher kept me on. And then I just fell in love with it. And yeah, in that episode, I have huge huge love for him.

Objects in Space is just wonderful-- but I'll probably rant about that later. lmao.

And Restless. UGH! I'm so glad you said this because I have always felt very alone in the opinion that this is a fantastic piece of television. Like, really. All my friends hated it. And yes, I realise, as a season finale, it poses more questions than it resolves. But honestly, I just love it. It is one of those moments that just makes me realise how much of a genius Joss is.

AH!! At your FF choices!! Love them. <3
Though, 'Objects in space' is possibly my favourite. Just because of bits like:

aw, sorry to give you so much reading! i did get a bit wordy, didn't i? : P

i think epitaph one surpasses the entire show, like, twelvefold. and topher is absolutely wonderful in it.

Objects in Space is just wonderful-- but I'll probably rant about that later. lmao.
awesome! i'm looking forward to it!

well, but that's what i really love about it! i really wish i had seen buffy on tv, and not dvd, just so i could've seen primeval and then gone "...wait...there's another episode next week?" and then been entirely thrilled, confused, and overjoyed. it's such a great television experiment, in terms of form, but it doesn't sacrifice content for any of that.

/rant

Though, 'Objects in space' is possibly my favourite.i tend to acknowledge that ois is the best episode of firefly (clearly i like the weird episodes!) but out of gas has ALWAYS been my favorite. partially because i'm a mal lover, but also partially ( ... )

I love all of these! I would do the meme too, but I'm horrible at picking favorites. Whenever I read a list of other people's favorites, I'm like "ooh yeah, that makes sense!". And then I read a completely different viewpoint and I'm like "ooh yeah, I like all of these too!". :P

haha, i have the same thing! but at some point you just give up and choose something. i actually think this meme has helped me sort out my fandoms a bit for this reason!
