CHARACTER
NAME: Sale (Sale Monacello)
FANDOM: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind
CANON SYNOPSIS:
Sale is a relatively minor and unimportant enemy in the early parts of Golden Wind. In the Six Billion arc, he and his partner Mario Zucchero are also clued in about Polpo's treasure, and stalk the heroes in an attempt to kill them and take the six billion for themselves. Zucchero is defeated, and Abbachio uses his Stand, Moody Blues, to discover that Zucchero had, in fact, been working with a partner in order to defeath the team. That partner was Sale. They also learn that Sale had been informed that the team was heading to the island of Capri, and had arrived at least thirty minutes prior. In order to ensure he doesn't reach the treasure before they do and that they are not ambushed (Sale was expecting them to arrive in Zucchero's boat), they send Mista and Giorno ahead (by fish...don't ask) in order to take him out first.
Giorno and Mista managed to use Zucchero's ship radio to lure Sale out, but Mista only manages to shoot his foot before he escapes to a nearby truck. Mista is forced to seperate from Giorno as the truck starts. Sale makes a quick attempt to attacl Mista, but is shot in the head for his efforts. Now here is where we begin to find out what Sale's stand power is. Kraftwerk, Sale's stand, has complete control over kinetic vectors. The bullet that should have killed him, as well as subsequent shots to the throat and mouth, stop just short of a flesh wound, making him unable to be killed by normal means. Anything Sale touches, he will have control over due to friction.
Sale reveals that his strategy is to keep Mista stuck to the truck (which is mostly out of control due to the driver's foot being stuck to the gas pedal thanks to Kraftwerk), until he runs out of bullets. Sale then planned to kill him with one of his own bullets, slowly charging one with enough kinetic energy to fire off at him. It's difficult to aim, but proves to be effective as his second attempt puts a hole right through Mista's stomach. Even knocking Sale off the truck with a stray shot proves to not be effective as Sale simply builds a floating pathway of rocks in order to get right back on.
Just as Sale is about to finish Mista off, Mista fires off his last bullet and uses all six of the Sex Pistols to put massive force into it before Sale can freeze it with Kraftwerk. Just as he stops it, the bullet shatters and one half of the bullet strikes the bullet already lodged into Sale's head, pushing it the rest of the way out and putting him down for the count. Amazingly enough, Sale's stand power keeps the wound from being fatal through means not explained. He's left in a road side bathroom while Mista meets up with the rest of the team to collect the six billion dollar treasure.
ONORATA-VERSE BACKGROUND:
Sale Monacello is the young nephew of the current Don and heir apparent to the family, given the Don has no family and pretty much raised Sale as an older brother. Sale's parents, Don Monacello's brother and sister-in-law, were killed during coup that began the massive rivalry between Vescovo and Monacello, which bore a long resting seed of absolute hatred for all things Vescovo in the young Sale's heart. From that day on, he swore that the Vescovo house would be destroyed and that his family would rule the city, if not the entire country. And it was his uncle and new guardian, the Don himself, that fostered that dream. Unfortunately, being raised by a man like Don Monacello created a rebelious streak and massive attitude within the youth. But this didn't really matter to the Don...he was the same way at Sale's age, after all. Not to mention Sale was practically immune to practical assasinations.
Sale's parents, you see, were both enhanced humans, whom has served as Soldati, considered to be some of the most powerful, before meeting and becoming the couple that eventually gave birth to Sale. Their enhancements effected Sale on a genetic level, allowing him mutations that granted him powers that were similar to that both of his parents had, only far stronger. His father could destabilize the kinetic energy of objects and turn them into bombs, where as his mother could remove her own personal friction and make herself practically untouchable (I hear it made the sex fantastic). Sale was born with an odd byproduct of these mutations, giving him complete control over the kinetic vectors of whatever he touched. Don Monacello immediately saw the potential in him as the powers began to surface in Sale, and assigned a top level Monacello scientist to help Sale learn to control his ability. While he is still relatively inexperienced, his training helped him at least learn to use it in self-defense...as well as entertaining himself. The power was dubbed "Kraftwerk" after a band Sale had taken a liking too.
Sale was raised on samurai fiction, his mother also being a fan. He took kendo in his youth and still carries a boken from time to time. He also tends to keep his headphones on at almost all times, blasting either skate punk or techno into his eardrums. He dyes his hair blue and dresses much like one would expect a rebelious teenager to do. What seems to stay the same is his obsession with star motifs...something about his father being into astrology. And, on top of all that, he loves baseball. It's the only sport (he doesn't consider kendo or skateboarding a sport) that he really excells in, and the only thing he doesn't abuse his powers to enhance. His dream, before it became obvious that he was to be the next Don, was to go to America and try to revive the old baseball leagues of the Old World.
CURRENT SITUATION: Given his last name is Monacello, there's no hiding his mafia connection. However, this also makes him somewhat untouchable. His only connection, after all, is a family name. He has recently started attending university classes and still actively participates in a local baseball league as well as skateboarding. Of course his powers have since become more refined as well. He has more control over vectors than he did before, making him virtually assassin-proof. And this is good, as it seems he's likely to become a target at this rate...
