Why do we start our lives in the Winter?
We should be like Parsis, for whom the New Year is dissolved
like sugar into milk,
a season that doesn't displace,
doesn't scratch you into waking like the cold,
warmth in the auspicious fish steamed in fertility
fresh rose-water, where it bathes
as pine when the March Sun shines
the smell of Spring.
