I've finally realised - the US republican campaigns are actually all a gigantic spoof, a little joke America is playing on the rest of the world. The latest insanity: don't vote for Mitt Romney - you can't trust a man who speaks French!

Haven't clicked on the links but am taking your word for the content. In the case of the US, nothing surprises me in terms of political backwardness and the apparently appalling mean voter IQ (which are the reasons I don't follow US politics). I guess all the millions of intelligent people who live there get balanced out by hundreds of millions of not-as-intelligent ones
